There are several exciting hotels scheduled to open in New York this year. Last week, we introduced our readers to Aman’s new flagship hotel in Manhattan. This week, we will have a look at Six Senses New York, which will also be the hotel group’s first hotel in North America.
Six Senses Hotels & Resorts, now a part of the Intercontinental Hotels Group, currently has 19 hotels in primarily remote locations around the world. 2020 will mark as the year they start a new chapter with their expansion into North America, with their new urban hotel in New York. Located in the vibrant West Chelsea, along the High Line, the hotel will offer guests with a panoramic view overlooking New York’s skyscrapers, Statue of Liberty and the Hudson River.
The famous Danish architect, Bjarke Ingels designed the hotel’s unique twisting towers. This will be a so-called mixed-use building, of which the hotel will house 10 floors of the building. Six Senses New York will offer guests several social spaces, including cafés, a restaurant, juice bar, spa and wellness area, as well as co-working spaces and lounge areas.
Sustainability is an important element for Six Senses. The interior is designed by the reputable interior designer Gilles & Boissier. The neutral colours and the choice of natural materials in the interior, which are combined with light wood flooring and charred wood accent walls, are intended to create a sense of tranquillity in contrast to the dramatic skyscrapers in the background.
Six Senses is one of the hotel groups that always stand out for their exceptional spa and wellness offerings. The hotel will dedicate 4100 km2 for the wellness area. Their full-service spa will offer a “vibroacoustic meditation dome”, bathhouse, magnesium pool, fitness centre and yoga studio. Additionally, there will be an integrative wellness clinic which offers treatments with Western and Eastern influences.
Currently, there is no official opening date. But keep an eye, the hotel is still scheduled to open by the end of 2020.
