The cancelled flight was caused by as you may already know, an unusually high sickness absence among our cabin staff.
There are always extra personals to call in, but at this time, so many became sick so that all extra people were already called in.
Under the EU regulation the right to compensation in different situations, this unusually high sickness absence rate is considered an extraordinary event and therefore does not qualify for the compensation you are asking for.
