The Rijksmuseum is one of the world’s most famous art museums and is a must-visit while in Amsterdam. The most famous painting is Rembrandt’s Night Guard from 1642. Other highlights are Van Gogh’s self-portrait and Vermeer’s beautiful oil painting, The Milkmaid. It is possible to visit this iconic museum virtually with the help of Google Arts & Culture.

The British Museum. London, United Kingdom.

The British Museum in London was founded by Sir Hans Sloane and opened to the public in 1759, making it one of the world’s first national museum. The first collection was Sir Hans Slone’s personal collection of more than 80.000 items, and with time this has increased. Nowadays, the museum pride itself on having more than 8 million objects from cultural-historical collections from every corner of the world. One of the most beautiful places in the museum is The Great Court, which is a square surrounded by a beautiful glass ceiling. Some of the highlights are the legendary Rosetta stone and the Nereid Monument.

The Metropolitan Opera. New York, USA.

The Metropolitan Opera, also known as “the Met”, is among the most renowned opera houses in the world. The Opera House originally opened in 1883 by wealthy businesses men and was one of the first opera houses on Broadway in New York. Nearly 800.000 people attend the over 200 performances yearly and millions more across the world follow the performances digitally. The Met has made more than 700 full-length performances accessible on their website.

The Yosemite National Park extends over approximately 3000 km2 and is located in the State of California. It is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1984. The natural park is mainly known for its waterfalls, but it also has an amazingly varied nature, with deep valleys, magnificent meadows and much more. By combining 360-degree images with sound effects and great information about all highlights, the park has managed to create a very good virtual experience.

The Forbidden City. Beijing, China

The forbidden city is located in the heart of Beijing, just north of Tiananmen Square. This world-famous emperor’s palace was built in the 1420s and has housed 24 Emperors under the Ming and Qing Dynasty. The palace has long been closed to the public but opened its doors to the public since 1924. This is one of the absolute highlights when you visit Beijing.
