This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Iconic Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane. In celebrating this first Four Seasons hotel in Europe, the luxury chain decided to refurbish all rooms, although it´s only been around 8 years since the last redecoration. BusinessClass.com was among the first guests to check out the new rooms that at this point occupy the two top floors only. We can happily confirm that the extensive restoration of rooms and corridors is very well done.

The building is perhaps not as impressive as the sister hotel Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square. But the location in the center of the capital, impressive park views, the Spa/gym on the 10th floor, and the Italian restaurant are all highlights that together make this landmark hotel one of the finest choices in London.

Location (9)

Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane is located in Mayfair, just between Green Park and Hyde Park. It´s a short stroll to charming Mayfair on one side, and quite close to Knightsbridge on the other. Shopping powerhouses Selfridges and Harrods are both reachable by foot. But to know: although Four Seasons Hotel London At Park Lane is right in the center of London, the busy intersection of Park Lane is not the friendliest. Be sure to get a room high up, to enjoy the refurbished rooms, views of the park and to get away from the city noise.

Rooms (9)

We stayed at the slightly upgraded Premier room, for more space and better views. Although not very large rooms (35 m2), Deluxe and Premier rooms feature elegant marble bathrooms with a bathtub and a separate large shower. Refurbished rooms with a nice and warm color palette feature large and razor-thin tv´s. Beds are ultra-comfortable. Fresh ice cubes brought to the room every day. Your own small luxury pied-á-terre in London.

Service (9)

We found service to be good throughout our stay, as should be expected. Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane is not an intimate hotel, but the staff is professional and friendly. If we needed to get a spare toothbrush, it was only minutes away.

Style (9)

The building itself is not very remarkable. But upon entering, you are welcomed by the famous decorator Pierre Yves Rochon’s red design, throughout the lobby area. You will find Red velvet Louis XVI chairs, red vases, a red-lacquered grand piano. There are White, sculpted murals and crimson walls offset by black marble. We enjoyed the lovely lobby area with the fireplace and the well-lit lounge for perfect for meetings and afternoon tea.

198 rooms is well underway, but as this review is written, only rooms at the top two floors has been done. This is the very last generation of room design by Four Seasons, with fine attention to detail. We do consider the new design to be a lot more contemporary than the slightly outdated one that is being replaced. We particularly enjoyed the warm and soothing color palette of the carpets, walls, and furniture. Large mirrors and marble baths are a welcome touch. The spa lounge area on the 10th floor features amazing views of Hyde Park, and you can enjoy incredible views over Buckingham Palace and Westminister as you work out on the latest Technogym equipment at the Gym . There is a sauna, a steam bath and a plunge-pool that offers hydro massages.

Food & Drink (9)Dining at Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane is a delightful experience. If you enjoy Italian cuisine. London has some of the best Italian restaurants in the world and Amaranto merits a visit, even when not staying at the hotel. We enjoyed the Grilled Artichokes with Pecorino Romano Aioli and Pappardelle with Genovese ragu. The second night we were tempted to do the pasta with fresh, black truffle from Alba. Just be aware, the tartufi comes at a steep price.

Breakfast is very good but is only á la carte. It is being served in the Amaranto restaurant.
