KLM has revealed its new business class seat for the airline’s forthcoming B787-10 Dreamliner aircraft, which will be delivered next year.

Dutch airline KLM has eight of the aircraft on order. Upon delivery in June 2019, the airline will become the first European carrier to operate the aircraft.

Designed by Japanese aircraft interior manufacturers Jamco, the new business class seat – called the ‘Venture’ seat – will be lighter than previous seats, saving fuel and lowering overall costs for the airline.

The style of the seats means they will be arranged in a fishbone configuration, ensures more effective use of the available space and giving every business class passenger direct aisle access.

Along with a privacy partition and “Do Not Disturb” button on the armrest, the new fully-flat seat features an 18.5-inch screen, plenty of storage space, and a retractable table.

Each B787-10 aircraft will have 38 of the new World Business Class seats on board.

The seats that KLM are to use will have their own branding on. This design will be created with the expertise of Dutch industrial designer Hella Jongerius.

Singapore Airlines is the first airline to operate the B787-10 after it took delivery of the first of 49 on order from Boeing aircraft last month. The aircraft features SIA’s new regional business class product.
