British Airways has unveiled a brand new business class lounge at Aberdeen Airport.

The opening represents the latest stage of the airline’s£4.5bn investment plan into the customer experience.

The new lounge, located within the recently completed extension of the airport, spans 380sq metres. The lobby has been designed so that customers travelling through the lounge quickly can get a quick bite to eat before they head off for their flight. Passengers with more time can enjoy comfortable seating overlooking the runway.

The lounge features bespoke furniture and fittings such as the feature walls, lighting and marble-topped tables. Similar to the airline’s new lounge in Rome – which opened last month – the centrepiece of the lounge is the beautifully crafted granite topped bar.

There is room in the lounge for local artwork from the airline’s Art Collection, including ‘The Long Winding Shores’ by Maddie Rose Hills inspired by Kinlochewe in the Scottish Highlands.

The contemporary space also offers complimentary WiFi and plenty of USB and power points, enabling customers to work, surf online and charge personal devices.

Throughout the day there will be a wide range of food on offer. Those travelling on early morning flights will be able to enjoy local delicacy, Aberdeen Rowies, which will be on offer for breakfast.

The lounge is the second to open under the airline’s new design concept. It follows the recent unveiling of the first in the new series of lounges at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport.

British Airways’ New York JFK Terminal 7 will be the next lounge to open under the new design concept, with improvements being made there to the customer experience at check-in.

The airline also has further investment planned in Geneva, San Francisco, Johannesburg, Chicago and its lounges at Heathrow.
